KURÃ PROJECT – AROMATHERAPY CENTER
Kurã
Aromatherapy Center and grounds were inspired by and embrace the myriad
of possibilities resulting from dynamically combining therapeutic, creative
and humanitarian concepts and activities.
The
physical space was designed to accommodate and enhance group meetings
and experiential workshops. At Kurã, Aromatherapy is used as a
tool to awaken, open and discover our sense of smell and, thereby, access
our ancestral, genetic and emotional memories. Individual appointments,
collective workshops and social encounters are part of the work.

Location

Kurã
is located on 3 hectars of forestland at an altitude of 4,500 feet in

Kurã
Herbal Garden
Kurã
understands that part of Aromatherapy study is enhanced through the actual
planting of therapeutic herbs and flowers. The gardens, which are already
partially planted are divided and arranged in circular shapes (Mandalas),
in order to study the advantages of this configuration with respect to
the growth of the plants and to enhance the level of interactivity between
group members, the earth and he plants themselves.
As
part of one of Kurã’s projects, Aromatherapy groups will
experience the planting, harvest and distillation process required for
the production of essential oils. The daily maintenance of the gardens,
the drying room and the distillation room will be harmoniously divided
among those who wish to participate.

Kurã
Nourishment
Kurã’s
kitchen is vegetarian and based on Ayurvedic theory. The use of natural
spices, essential oils, vegetables, cereals and roots is part of how groups
will be nourishment.
Participation
in the preparation process will provide the impulse, which will ultimately
create group bonding and stimulate a consciousness of the importance of
caring for and nourishing one another. All who wish to participate will
be welcome to join in this activity.

Kurã
History
Karina
de Araujo, Kurã’s founder, has been working for the past
eight years towards the realization of this project. Her formal education
includes Aromatherapy, Massage therapy, Psychology, Family Constellation
studies, Anthroposophy and Ayurvedic Cooking.
“
At some point, I perceived that the world of Aromatherapy was missing
a serious space for people to experience and learn about this great healing
art in a rural natural setting where the purity of the environment would
enhance and provide the relaxing backdrop for intensive internal research.
The idea to begin the Kurã Aromatherapy Center was born at the
moment of this perception. Afterwards, the desire to create a meeting
place for people to encounter the aromas and experience a more meaningful
contact with the earth began to develop.
Kurã
is in a place of abundant water, pure air, woods: it is the birthplace
of many waters. I want to share with people what I experience here. I
have had an idea and created a shape …but Kurã’s destiny
and function will blossom and grow only with time.”
